Purple Haze Dragon Fruit is self-sterile, meaning it will not set fruit with its own pollens. One needs to cross-pollinate Purple Haze with another dragon fruit variety to set fruit.
Plant Source:
I purchased the original Purple Haze Dragon Fruit seedling plant from Cal Pomona Nursery’s online store back in July of 2020.
First Harvest
We harvested 3 fruits, 2 years later after planting the 3-4 inch tall seedling received by mail.
The fruits turned red quickly with the excessive heat wave that we are having on the first week of September 2022.
Color
The flesh is magenta with a tiny haze of light pink. Fins are green with reddish skin.
Flavor
Purple Haze’s flavor has has hints of grapes and kiwi.
